Heartwarming stories rarely make it to the front page, which is probably why it sometimes feels like nothing positive is happening in the world. But as this list of little love stories reveals, beautiful things are happening every single day. They come from a website called Makesmethink.com, a place where people share stories that will give you pause for thought, and we're sure you'll agree that the little anecdotes below will do just that. Be warned though, some of them might cause you to well up, while others might turn you into a blubbering mess. Or perhaps it's just us. (h/t: brightside, marcandangel)

Today, I asked my Mom to come down after work to my college campus because I have been feeling sick and have had a horrible last few days. She dropped everything and drove the hour to spend her evening with me. That's real love- you are never too old to need your parents. She made me feel 100 times better.

Today, I found an old hand written note my mom wrote when she was a senior in high school. On it is a list of qualities she hoped she would someday find in a boyfriend. The list is basically an exact description of my dad, who she didn’t meet until she was 27.

Today, I woke up to my boyfriend telling me that he loves me. Yesterday we were in a pretty bad boating accident. I have a cast on my arm and scrapes on my face, yet he still honestly tells me he thinks I’m the most beautiful girl in the world.

Today, at the age of 72, nearly 15 years after my grandfather passed away, my grandmother remarried. And since I’m only 17, I’ve never seen her so happy in all my life. It’s inspiring to see two people so in love at their age.

Today, I fell in love with the same person twice… once when she greeted me and once when she said goodbye. After four years my heart continues to jump in this exact pattern, without fail, every time. I can't define ‘love’ with words, but whenever I see her, hear her, or think of her, I feel what love is.

Today I said, “I love you” to my girlfriend. I’m 28 and this is the first time I’ve ever uttered this four letter word to a girl I've dated.

Today, I found out my dad has cancer. I haven't told him I loved him in over 20 years even though I have considered openly forgiving him on many occasions. This afternoon I told him.

Today, on the day you passed away, I asked for a sign that you know how much I love you and that your spirit is ok wherever you are. As I was sewing tonight, I clipped 4 threads from a seam and they fell into the shape of your initials.

Today, as I watched my 75 year old grandmother and grandfather being silly with each other and laughing in the kitchen, I felt like I got a short glimpse of what true love feels like. I hope I find it someday.

My grandfather and I were looking through some photographs when we stumbled upon an old shot of him dancing at a party with my grandmother, who had died several years before. He put his arm around me and said, “Always remember that even if something doesn’t last forever, it doesn’t mean that it’s not worth your time.”

Today, I was working in a coffee shop when 2 gay men walked in holding hands. As you might expect, heads started turning. Then a young girl at the table next to me asked her mom why 2 men were holding hands. Her mom replied, "Because they love each other."
