I WANT TO CALL THIS COUPLE OUT!
My little brother Daniel has been visiting with his girlfriend Emily. I've been trying to show them how nice Portland people are to the ones around them, and their capacity for stranger interaction. Crossing my fingers that we wouldn't encounter someone having a bad day!
Today we took a little quad bicycle out on the waterfront. After a bit we received a phone call stating that Daniel's wallet had been lost and turned in 5 blocks away.
As we rode back I warned him that his $320 cash (which our mother and grandfather had given him to get by while here) would most likely be gone. Since it was close to a 7-eleven with a little bit of petty crime.
We arrive to the building to find it's actually the bank his card is from. When we arrive they tell us that it was them who contacted him, because his jacket and wallet were turned in by a couple. I asked them who they were and they didn't know.
Not only did this anonymous couple NOT take his $320, they TRIED TO DEPOSIT IT INTO HIS ACCOUNT for fear he wouldn't get it back. Going above and beyond for a stranger they knew nothing about.
With all the discord going on it's always nice to be reminded how good people are at heart. I would love to get this circled back to this couple so that we can thank them, and buy them some Voodoo donuts.
