Lakota Powwows On 35mm Film

For a year, I lived and taught on the Pine Ridge reservation. Located in the Badlands of South Dakota, this reservation is home to the Oglala Lakota Native Americans.

While the reservation is rife with issues seen no where else in this country, it is also full of color and beauty. Powwows are no exception to this. Below are several photos taken on 35mm film.
