In aquatic ecosystems across the eastern US, you can find a plethora of different snake species, most of which are harmless to humans. However, venomous snakes such as the cottonmouth can also be found in these areas, and misinformation about what these snakes look like and how they act often leads to non-venomous serpents being misidentified and killed out of fear. In this video, I meet up with Zachary Gray from life’s wild adventures to catch a venomous cottonmouth as well as two harmless look-alike species and show you how to tell them apart. Knowing the differences between these species could save your life one day!
