Joshua Tree National Park Has Some Of The Darkest Night Skies In California (5 Photos)

The place where your cellphone becomes a paper-weight or an expensive flashlight, Joshua Tree National Park @JoshuaTreeNPS has something for everyone and is the place to get away. You can hike and explore almost anywhere in the park, in practically every canyon, boulder, crevice, and create your own trails. You’re guaranteed to encounter something new and beautiful around every corner. Just like clouds can appear to form familiar shapes, every boulder in the park can do the same, and sparks imagination. The views are incredible from the ground floor to the stunning Keys View outlook where you can look down onto the Coachella Valley and the San Andreas Fault line and also the glimmering Salton Sea. Do I even have to mention the brilliant night skies? Yes, the park’s location sets it far enough away from city light that it has some of the darkest night skies in California, which is my favorite park “secret”. Those of us that live in populated cities (L.A. area), where on a good night you can count maybe twelve stars, will be blown away at the amount of stars and glorious Milky Way that is visible with your own eyes. #JTNPphotocontest #FindYourpark
