John Wick Fanart

So this is my fanart based on my favourite action film John Wick (2014).

After watching the movies and absolutelly falling in love with the comicesque noir feel, I composed a wide screen format artwork based on the first film as the images that I wanted to include were way to many. Everything you see comes from frames that I isolated from the film. The idea was to show both the overal emotional and stylistic feel in one compact artwork.

The most challenging part was choosing the right frames because during that process I had to decide whether I wanted to include what was familiar with most viewers and comply with a more universal perception of the film, or choose the frames that matched my personal feeling. To me the story is one about love, separation, grief, actual and emotional freedom and wanted to show just that. So I decided I needed to chose the parts of the film that when I'd look back at my artwork would bring in my mind the emotions and imagery that I have about it. This way, apart from celebrating the film I also hoped to share my own perception of it.

Ink on paper and alcohol markers for the coloring.
