I've always loved the 'golden age' of illustrations from the late 19th to the early 20th century, by the likes of Arthur Rackham, Warwick Goble and more, and when i was a child i would invent the stories i imagined would go along with them if i didn't know the original ones. Now i'm an illustrator and storyteller i've combined my love of this art style and the wonder of being inspired by a single image to create the series 'Goodfellow's Lost Faerie Tales'. I've used hand drawn and digital techniques to create the aesthetic of old illustrations, including the imperfections from early printing techniques and faded watercolour , and added a caption to each to inspire the imagination. These first four images have been worked on over the last year, experimenting with techniques and developing the right style, and i have sketch books full of designs for future pictures. I'm loving the act of imagining a snapshot of a story and am inviting anyone who feels inspired to tell me the story they think it should fit. The facebook page 'Goodfellow's Lost Faerie Tales' is where the stories can be shared or links to them posted, and i can't wait to see what different paths the stories will take.
