I'm from Croatia and we are famous for our beautiful coastline and clean sea...but when I got to the beach this year I was shocked to see how dirty it was!
It was basically an ashtray. Sand is mixed with cigarette buds to the extent that laying on the wet towel has a similar effect as a nicotine patch. A cigarette bud takes 100-400 years to decompose all the way. When you go into the water for a swim you first have to fight your way through all kinds of floating pieces of plastic wraps and bags and whatnot...I was so sad.
This paradise is sick with plastic waste and we as a community are ill with bad manners towards the nature that gives us life. I needed to do something! I was not going to be silent!
Being creative and crafty I've decided to create a magnificent costume of a mermaid and turn myself into one. I want people to fall in love with nature again and fight for the solution for this big problem from that feeling, rather than guilting them to change. I want you to know that If I can make a difference so can you. We do have the power to change things. We actually do it all the time. We need to make sure that our children will still have this amazing nature to enjoy and thrive from.
The first thing you can do is sign this petition to "Tell the EU Commission it’s time to take on plastic waste":
https://actions.sumofus.org/a/eu-plastic-waste/?akid=34107.11315481.dGnVX3&rd=1&source=fwd&t=1
And if you're from Croatia, we have our own petition:

Spread the word. Thank you!

Plastic is very useful if you use it well.

Our sea friends so often eat plastic, get stuck in plastic or get hurt in other ways by our waste.

I will find you and pull you by your legs to the bottom so you can see where all your plastic crap ends up.

Some plastic will also float to the shore so if you see it please clean the beaches and get it to be recycled.

So we and the next generations can enjoy this capturing beauty and swim in the healthy sea.

My amazing photo-session team.

I send my bubbly kisses to all of you good people!
