Italy Road Trip: Experience On And Tips For Your Road

It is true that Italian road trip is one of the most beautiful experiences of your lifetime taking into account all breathtaking panoramas and local people that you meet. However, Italy is so diverse from North to South, that, to be honest, we need to divide our experience on the road into different parts. Our adventures in stages are listed below.

1. Italy Road Trip: Liguria - Italian Riviera
This was the beginning of our trip and the first real steps on the Italian roads with a car. What we mean is being only by ourselves in two and having no advice from somebody who has driven this way before..

2. Italy Road Trip: Tuscany
Once we reached Tuscany the terrain changed rapidly. At first we had to go up in the mountains, and then a long long drive through the valleys, with the hope to see the signature of Tuscany - "Cupressus sempervirens" - those are the trees that every traveler want to see once they reach Tuscany..

3. Italy Road Trip: Lazio - Naples
Well this might possibly be the the worst of your ideas ever. Driving in all of those cities is an actual nightmare..

4. Italy Road Trip: Through Campania and Basilicata
The most extreme part of Campania to drive through is Amalfi coast, widely being one of the favorite places in Italy. The drive along this spectacular coastline is simply breathtaking..
But once we reached Basilicata everything changed and it became flat, dry, sandy and kind of desert like..

5. Italy Road Trip: Puglia
The roads were in quite a bad condition, lots of cracks and bumps.. Starting from Leuca go towards Otranto, just don't take the highways, take the sea side road via small towns and villages. The caves, the lagoons, homes on the cliffs and ports will make you stop more then a couple of times..

6. Italy Road Trip: Puglia up to Florence
This was the stage when we left the car and took the train.. Destination - Florence - was highly awarding, but we really missed our "Panda" (Fiat) - a true friend for the Italian road!
