Swedes have the tradition of watching a Donald Duck special on Christmas Eve. But other countries have some quirky traditions as well. Venezuelans, for example, roller skate to morning mass. They believe it's the summer equivalent of sleighing in the snowy North, and traffic is even closed off so roller skaters are safer.

Oaxaca City in Mexico has quite a fun Christmas Eve tradition, too. On December 23, they celebrate the Night of the Radishes. Local skilled artists make carvings out of radishes of all shapes and sizes and display them at the local Christmas market.
Mexicans also put up a lot of Nativity scenes, as do Catalans in Spain. But in Catalonia, they include a whimsical character: "El Caganer," or the pooper. It's a figurine of a peasant squatting and doing his business while holding the Catalan flag.

Recently, Bill Gates vowed to give away 99% of his wealth to charitable health and development projects. As he detailed in his blog post, his decision is based on the philosophy of Andrew Carnegie, who also believed that wealthy people should give away their wealth as a duty to the public. "The man who dies thus rich dies disgraced," Gates cited Carnegie.
Interestingly, even with only 1% of his wealth, Gates would still be considered a billionaire.

Lukas Yla, a marketing professional, moved to San Francisco and did something wild to get noticed. He dressed up as a delivery driver, dropped off boxes of donuts to 40 top companies, and hid his CV inside each box with a note that said:
"Most resumes end up in the trash. Mine - in your belly."
Brilliant marketing, and a reminder that sometimes breaking the rules (with style) is exactly what it takes. 🍩📄👏
