The Instagram account @whatdogyouare matches a name to the derpiest, funniest, and most adorable photos of doggos out there and it has blown up with 124k followers. The creator of the account puts her success to a good cause by donating profits from requested posts to the rescue shelter Royal Animal Refuge.
“I saw my friends reposting the original cat account @what_cat_you_are (that has since been deleted) & DMd them to ask if I could do a dog one! It’s been absolutely crazy since then,” the creator told Bored Panda.

You’ve probably heard a phrase like “she absolutely looks like a Karen,” or “he looks more like a Bob than a John,” although people repeatedly ask you not to judge a book by its cover. In a study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology in 2017, lead author Yonat Zwebner came to conclusion that we match people to names easily due to cultural stereotypes. The so-called “social tag” (widely known as a “name”) might influence one’s facial appearance when a person tries to “live up to their given name.” In a series of experiments, participants were shown a photograph and asked to select a name that suited the face, and they were significantly better at matching the name to the face than random chance.
In this case, people’s names are matched with dogs’ faces, and although you might spot an unexpected slight resemblance—it’s pure entertainment. This silly idea is destined to be huge and spread across the internet in a heartbeat, as a name is something everyone has. Imagine if some of the most popular names get matched with funny dog memes—the amount of people tagged on that post is going to be insane! And we can’t imagine a better way to take our minds off our routines and whatever craziness is happening in the world right now than hilarious dog pics you can have a good laugh at with your namesakes!
