I made this figure of tiny Smaug after I got inspiration from an adorable chibi comic of him. After that, the rest of this story kind of wrote itself, taking inspiration from a children's book I loved when I was younger.
If you give a dragon a penny, then he'll want to make a hoard.

Then his hoard of fine money will remind him that he can't eat his hoard, so he will ask if he may have some food.
So you decide to make the two of you some eggs.

And he will want to watch.
Mmmm, eggs, cheese and bacon. He decides to get a close look.

Then he remembers that he's a real, scary, Dragon, who doesn't need humans, so he wants to make his own food.

But the spatula's too big for him, so he asks if you can flip the eggs at the right time.

He thinks it looks delicious.

He's ready to eat, but wait! He forgot his hoard!
So you go get it for him.
Now he's ready to eat.
Now he's ready to eat.

He's a little jealous of your burrito, but he's too polite to say anything.
You look at how much food you gave him and wonder if he can eat it all.

Oh my gosh he can. I think he has a tummy ache now.
So you have a great idea to make him feel better.

You watch How to Train your Dragon with him.

He enjoys the movie, especially the Monstrous Nightmare. But he feels there's a certain something lacking from these dragons, and he gets agitated.
He insists on watching his favorite movie.

Oh dear. This can't be good for keeping the house quiet, can it?

Now he's flying around the house bellowing as loud as his tiny lungs let him "ɪ ᴀᴍ ғɪʀᴇ!"

"ᴍʏ ᴛᴇᴇᴛʜ ᴀʀᴇ sᴡᴏʀᴅs! ᴍʏ ᴄʟᴀᴡs ᴀʀᴇ sᴘᴇᴀʀs!"

"ɪ ᴀᴍ ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ!"
His rampage thankfully tires him right out, and you suggest a story before bedtime.

You read to him from a favorite book...

And bring him his hoard to sleep on.

He sleepily pulls it under him...

Curls around, and drifts off to sleep.
But one more thing often happens when you give a dragon a penny.
You see,
When you give a dragon a penny...
You see,
When you give a dragon a penny...

Others are likely to show up.

Oh dear.
