It all started innocently enough with me posting a throwback 25-year-old photo to a friends group chat from when I was much skinnier. Surprisingly, my friends fixated on this mysterious, much older woman who I was holding hands with. It was a family friend, but as a joke, I said it was my girlfriend. Mind you, there's an almost 30-year age gap so I never thought it was even remotely believable.
However, believe it they did and wondered why I had never spoken about this old flame. I had recently seen "The Notebook" for the first time so taking a page out of The Office, I started describing elements from the movie as if they happened to this mysterious old love and me.
As you can see, the story took on a life of its own, ending with the hilarious reveal and good-natured vitrol that followed.
I regret nothing.
