Some 42 paintings from Galleries degli Uffizi including many of Botticelli are on loan to the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Since my visit to Firenze more than a decade ago, I really miss the beautiful city and the arts it offered. I am ecstatic that some of these beautiful artworks can be in Hong Kong, especially during these pandemic times.
I made 2 wool brooches from Botticelli’s work. Venus from The Birth of Venus and Flora from Primavera. I took them to visit the exhibition.
Although neither Birth of Venus nor Primavera is here, there is still The Adoration of the Magi, Madonna Della Loggia, Madonna and Child with St John amongst others.
So I took my recreated Venus and Flora in wool for a walk in the museum and took some photos with the master.
