I Started Painting Again

After 5 years I decided to start painting again. These are the first works of my collection. I find joy in painting beautiful, but mysterious women and I let them rediscover nature. I love to add birds and/or flowers to the canvas. They are often used in art as symbols. I find this symbolism in art and mythology very interesting. On the other hand I just love their colors and shapes. I hope you like my paintings

Girl with hibiscus flower

The hibiscus flower symbolizes female energy and everything related to being female. The flower gives her positive energy. It is a flower that transforms, beyond worry and tears.
The color purple reflects mystery.
The colibri expresses happiness, joy and love. The bird reminds us of the little pleasures of life. She encourages to alter the life path and to make dreams come through.

Black elderberry

In Slavic mythology the black berry is considered as a sacred tree connected to the spirits of the underworld and with the ability to mediate between the world of the living and the death
Also for the Celts it was a sacred tree, which represented the infinity of life. the black berry was used on the calendar as the symbol for the last month, after which the year ends, but of course also restarts
In German they use the word Holunder, referring to the goddess Holda. She is the mother of gods, protector of the heart and patroness of people and plants
The black berry represents a border between worlds. It could be a dangerous journey , but this journey could also lead to bountiful rewards.

Red rowan

The red rowan symbolizes wisdom and strength. It protects men and animal against evil. The Celtic priests called it the tree of life. It is one of the first trees in spring to grow leaf and thus stands for the renewal of life.
It's scientific name Sorbus Aucuparia comes from the Latin Aucupor, meaning Bird's catch. The Romans used the fruit for catching birds. Sorbus (Sorbie in French) means fruit.
These fruits are actually not real berries, but drupes, like mini-apples.
The sparrows on this canvas love to fly towards these fruits. In art they represent freedom, happiness and joyfulness.

Ravens of hope

Who says ravens are black? By painting this bird, I realized that their feathers sparkle in all colors of the rainbow.
The old Romans associated the call of the raven with the word 'Cras' meaning 'Tomorrow'.
They are a positive symbol for power. The power to hope, to change.
