I Spent Over 120 Hours Recreating My Favorite Music Video Frame By Frame

The quarantine became the perfect excuse to tackle an idea I'd had since I was a kid. I've always loved the music video for "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" by Wang Chung and wondered how they made it.
I spent over 120 hours recreating it with two cell phones and $80 worth of supplies from the local home improvement store (and another $50 on software). The whole thing was shot in the living room of my tiny apartment.
Instead of just covering the song, I used one of my own which I'd also recorded in my living room a couple of weeks earlier.
If you look closely you will notice that in both videos, regardless of the speed or special effects that the singers never lose sync with the song. It's an insane amount of work that was simultaneously fascinating and tedious. I'm really proud of the result, and I think my ten year old self who originally had the idea would be proud of me too.
Making this video kept me busy and distracted from everything that was happening outside. I was working around 10 hours a day on it, living on frozen burritos and microwave popcorn.
I watched a lot of YouTube tutorials to figure out how to make it for almost nothing. When I watch it I can't even believe that I was able to pull this off.
