4 years ago my brothers and I made a song from Phineas and Ferb sho-for-shot, movement-for-movement, costume-for-costume and it got the attention of the show's creator. Then a year ago we decided to make another one, Busted this time. We filmed the 2 girls in one afternoon and then started teaching ourselves how to do CG modeling because we couldn't really build the laboratory or house, it was a bigger task than we thought it would be. For one, it's not just learning how to create 3d models, it's also learning how to realistically texture them and properly light them to make them look like you really built them.
Then when we drove over to California to film the show's co-creator we had to figure out how to make things fly out of a box he was supposed to shake. We thought teal he'll shake an empty box and we'll make digital things fly out of it. We figured, "if Hollywood can do it then it's possible for us to figure out." Boy was that hard to figure out too! It took several tries before the software decided to cooperate.
Now it has been released for 10 days and we have passed half a million views. It's pretty rewarding for all our hard work.
This is all still a hobby for us. We had to borrow everything to make it (ie the green screen, the camera, the lights, people's time)
