I Spent 4,200 Hours Wrapping 70,000 Feet Of Rope And Fabric To Follow An Inspiration

I’m an artist who loves to create from life moments to really appreciate the world around me. And when I started this piece in rope and fabric, I started to experiment different ways of using fabric with a piece of rope I found. One night, I got lost in downtown San Antonio and instead of feeling frustrated by not being able to get to the place where I wanted to go, I pulled over to the side to see how beautiful the city was, which inspired this piece. In creating this piece, I spent 3 hours per 50 foot hand wound bundles of rope and fabric. This created over 1,400 bundles. A total of 4,200 hours, and 175 days to wrap. With a grand total of 70,000 feet of rope and fabric total, making a year to complete. Now, as I explore new ways of creating art and holding new life moments along the way, I'm creating 3D fabric sculptures, art in rope in fabric that have a flat surface, and appear 3D. Also different methods to creating mixed media.
