As a medieval reenactor, I try to realize every aspect of this era. People wanted to have fun then, as we do now.
I read about this only one fully preserved deck of cards, dated around 1475. It's a Flemish Hunting Deck that looks completely different from modern cards - check out the video.
I wanted to have them - that's why I created them! Everything except card print was made by hand, including the leather case I designed. It took many hours of work, but the effect is just great (I think). I made a video of every step of my work to show you how complicated this task was.
Now I can play cards with my friends, as our ancestors did over 500 years ago ...
