I Spend Hundreds Of Hours Turning Cakes Into Real Art Pieces

Hello everybody, my name is Diana Toma and I am a cake designer. For as long as I can tell I was passionate about art and everything that art includes, paintings, sculptures, drawing, music, embroidery and recently, cake decorating.
I fell in love with cake decorating when I saw on the internet a majestic cake presented at Queen Victoria's Wedding. I was deeply impressed and at the same time I knew that this is my calling, to be a cake artist.
Ever since that moment I felt a true passion towards cake decorating and cake designing. I spend lots and lots of hours designing unique cakes and I enjoy every single moment of it.
Everything starts with a cake design drawn on paper. Every element has to in perfect harmony with the other, the colors have to be in consonance with one another, and the whole piece has to be like a fairy tale with lots of details and elements, it just has to tell you a story. The story of the newlyweds, the story of the new born baby, the story behind an art piece who was inspired by a real antique artwork.
When I am truly satisfied with the design I created, I start making the real cake. Baking the cakes and making the filling, ganaching the cake and covering it with sugar paste, everything is like a dance for me, made in perfect balance. The baking part takes place after I create all the edible decorations, so that the inside of the cake is freshly baked.
When I get to the decorating part it's like time stops for me, nothing else matters in that moment, just me and my cake and my 1000% focus on that piece. And so lots and lots of hours pass by while I create intricate edible decorations for my cakes.
It's a challenge for me to make everything edible, to see every real antique object and to imagine it entirely edible, this process alone can last a few hours.
I love creating sugar flowers, made with such delicacy, petal by petal and then gently painting them to make them look like real natural flowers, I love making intricate edible lace, for which I have to have a very steady hand, a single tremble and the lace can be ruined, I love to paint on cakes with my edible powders, I love how it gives such a sophisticated and gracious look.
I just love everything about it, but what I love the most, is the way people feel when they see my artwork.
Thank you for taking time to read and to look at some of my edible art pieces.
