I Spend Hours Creating These...

Last time I did something creative was probably in primary school. Then I went on to study economics, accountancy, marketing... there was never a place for creativity.
Last year I had a few weeks off and I decided to start creating... something, anything. After a few fails, I have finally stumble upon mosaic art. It was a love at the first sight!
In my professional life I work as a Digital Project Manager and so everything I do is virtual, hence why when choosing a hobby I looked for something that was much more tangible, something that I could touch, that I could get my hands dirty with.
Mosaic is certain to give you blisters and bruises but I wear them proudly, it's almost as a war scar, a proof of stamina and bravery! ;)
Mosaic is a fantastic art form that allows you to enjoy it while knowing only a few basics things. But interestingly as you grow and develop there is a limitless world of opportunities opening to you. The number of technics, tools, materials that can be used is just breathtaking!
Making mosaic is an amazing way to unwind and relax. For me personally, it is also a fantastic form of meditation. However, it could also be a fun thing to do with a group of friends or strangers :)

Wild Geckos mosaic

I was working on this mosaic on & off for about 6 months but the work itself took close to 10 days, mosaicing full time :)
I loved every minute of it.

Tom The Turtle mosaic

The Turtle mosaic is the first mosaic I have ever done, but not the first I ever finished 🙂 I worked on it at the amazing mosaic class I found in 2016 run by Cat Monstersmith.
Every Thursday from 7PM to 9PM I was at Hackney City Farm, London, joining Cat's fantastic and relaxed class. I absolutely loved it! The knowledge and the support I have received helped me to discover my love for mosaics.

Stanley The Octopus mosaic

I don’t know what came over me but I just had to make an octopus!!!
They are amazing creatures and I just knew it had to be red!!!
It took me weeks to finish him but it was so much fun!

We Will Walk Together mosaic

‘We will walk together’ is a mosaic I’ve created as a gift for a couple of friends for their wedding. I took the original photo in 2016 in Paris. Originally I wanted to recreate it as a mosaic but as I progressed with the mosaic, there were a few adjustments that had to be done.

Poppies mosaic

The ‘Poppies Meadow’ mosaic is my second mosaic but the first I have started working on outside of the mosaic classes.
I only had 3 colours of tiles when I’ve started working on it: white, red and black so poppies popped into my mind 🙂 To make the background more interesting I have decided to create an illusion of a meadow with various grass types and flowers, but all with white ceramic tiles.
