As a young girl growing up in India, I did not know which man's touch was safe and which was not. I grew up learning to question every man's intentions if he crossed into my private space. But my life changed one day, when I made a new friend! In his company, I felt safe, I found comfort and I was nurtured. My mind couldn't comprehend what this was, it was a completely platonic relationship where we enabled each other to grow and be better people every day. I didn't share this kind of relationship with other men I came across. Some were apprehensive about being misunderstood, some didn't know how to connect through physical touch and establish emotional relationships. So I decided to photograph this visual series for both men and women as a guide to connecting emotionally through physical touch.
