Have you ever seen those photographs that are made by setting a camera on a tripod and leaving the shutter open for a long time to record the motion of light? Maybe the stars gliding over the night sky or the taillights of cars going down a highways. Take the tripod way and put the photographer in motion and what happens? The images below (after three years of practice and a lot of looking very ridiculous dancing in near total darkness).
There isn't a set academic name for this form of Kinetic Photography as far as I can tell; I call it light painting and consider it a hybrid between dance and photography because it requires gestural reaction to the shifting light and darkness.
