What started as a challenge to draw and paint more without strict rules turned out to be my most satisfying series of artworks. I started with ink blots to establish the negative space for tree-like silhouettes. From there I looked at portraits of famous figures to complement the character of the silhouette. To create sculptural dimension I used a mixture of mediums: watercolor, graphite, and white pencil. The result is an "Uncanny Forest" of almost 30 strange ent-like beings. I let loose my quirkier, humorous side and titled each tree with as much pun as I could muster.
