I always thought fan art was something younger artists did, because you know they are cool and know what's trending and have an excited group of fans who can relate. What fan art does an older (ugh hate to admit how old!!) artist paint? Who could relate to Air Wolf? The only people who could relate are too busy at the orthopedic clinic getting joints X-rayed. I wonder if that's why we are generation X?
So there's this show that everyone has been raving about, I don't watch that much TV but this lockdown has given us plenty of time. I thought I will watch one episode to see what all the fuss was about. I ended up binging till 4 am and still couldn't resist just.one.more.episode. There is no such thing!! The show is Diriliş: Ertuğrul, a Turkish historical drama series about the Ottoman Empire and it is highly addictive! I had the urge to paint the main character, and the excitement it generated among my Facebook friends was quite heartening. They wanted to see another and voted on their next favourite character. I posted a work in progress video on a mom's group and it got over 4000 views very quick, whereas most moms on the group didn't have time to watch other painting videos I posted. I'd get an embarrassing couple hundred views on a good day when everyone's kids gave them five minutes to breathe. If you haven't watched the show check it out!
