My name is Phillippa Walter and I am a linocut print illustrator.
I have always been an illustrator, even though I tried not to be. I wanted to be a serious artist like someone from the Romanticism movement, or create oil paintings of fruit sitting alone on a table in the dark, by someone who is clearly having some kind of an existential crisis. I even went as far to study oil painting and geometry, but my work was sub par and paid work was sporadic. I had my own little secret drawings, which were often jokes that I would doodle onto scraps of paper or shopping lists as a little surprise for someone. I have drawn some really good Granny apples and inappropriate chickens.
Every year for my partners birthday I make him a linocut print, a page from a book that we will be writing for as long as we are together, a little moment of happiness or fun, forever immortalised into a little nudie print.
The prints took off and now this is my full time job, which is quite good really.
