I created this piece while self-isolating during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, using only the materials I had on hand in my studio. It was important to me to keep my mind busy and keep creating, as artists have played an important role during this crisis to keep people encouraged, distracted, and most importantly, home.
"20 Seconds" touches on our survival need for ritual and repetition of physical actions such as washing our hands while counting to 20.
It also shows us the plain mathematics of how exponential growth starts off very slowly, but then quickly becomes completely overwhelming.
