Crocheting is my favorite thing to do, and not just crocheting, but especially creating semi- realistic versions of animals that I adore. Bats are by far one of my favorite animals, there isn't a a fruit eating bat video that I cant stop and awe at and get lost in their adorable little faces when it shows up on my feeds. I just knew I had to make one out of yarn, and it had to be as large and captivating as the beautiful flying foxes they are modeled after.
Meet Flynn, This "little" winged wonder has joined my ever growing zoo of crochet designs this week, and I couldn't be any more smitten with him if I tried! His 3 ft wingspan is wired to be bendable so he can wrap up in a little batty burrito , or stretch those wings and show them off. Over 30 hours of work, 2 types of yarn, and 3 hook sizes go into each of these amigurumi animals, brought to life by sparkly glitter eyes (from Suncatcher Craft Eyes), and I love that he seems to wear every color yarn I throw at him well (that red one is absolutely stunning in person!)
I hope that you enjoy Flynn as much as I do! If you wish to create your own life sized flying fox amigurumi, you can find his pattern available on Etsy & Ravelry!
