I used to pencil draw on my desk everyday when I was in high school - the cleaning lady wasn’t that happy about that, rubbing off portraits on a daily basis.
I don’t know why I stopped, but I know why I (recently!) started painting again. When my hands are covered in colours, glue and gels, I feel like I can dive into my painting story, some times going along with it, other times wrestling to change its course. Today I'm closest to my idea of life than I ever was before.
And I think life and people have roughness and layers that affect you. Sometimes this may seem scary, intimidating.
It's what I call people’s texture – their shades, what they don’t tell you. It's the fascinating aspect that keeps drawing me towards people, inspiring me much more than their words or speeches.
That’s why sands, beads and stones jump into my canvases: they get me closer to life and people’s beauty.

'Part of' - I add small rocks, sands and acrylic gels to acrylic colours to recreate how connected she is to earth

'Sources of influence' - Here I mix fine & coarse-grained gravels and rocks. I love the wake she leaves on what surrounds her

'Ahead' - I love to mix acrylic gel, small rocks, gravel and sands. She lets go and feels the light on her face
