This series of photographs was developed using three different people wearing the same jacket, which was specially made for this project. In the series we see Alejandro, Pepe and Lily who are in different stages in their lives and are originally from Cuba -currently living in Florida.
Using techniques such as felting and weaving the fabric and the garment were constructed from scratch with natural materials like wool, cotton and yarns painted and dyed in shades of blues as to honor the original tones of the ocean they all had to cross. The intention of this series is to express the personality from each subject and the inherent character of the elements that comprise the garment they are wearing.
In its own way life has offered to these people a chronology of adversities, joy, success, separations, escapes, love affairs, ruptures and passionate careers. Through these portraits both the wearer and the jacket can be seen in an ongoing exploration of their character; together and individually they each become complex elements in the photograph, allowing the viewer to appreciate and wonder about their story.
