Being under lockdown we couldn't get the decorations for my nephew's second birthday. I started sketching cute versions of a bat, a pangolin, and a coronavirus and later designed some templates to turn them into paper toys that I could print and build.
Initially my family was reluctant about the theme, but as soon as they saw the finished product, they jumped in and helped me build a piñata.
In the end, we all shared laughs and broke some of the stress that has been building during this crisis. The characters also helped teach the kids to care and respect the involved wildlife.
