I love movies. I love watching them, analysing them, and have an incessantly annoying pleasure in guessing a movie's plot within the first 5 minutes it started.
For this project, I decided to explore this habit of mine. Instead of illustrating posters after watching them, I decided to design and produce the posters without experiencing the films. I also create another set of posters for after watching, just to compare how right, or horribly wrong, I was. It was an interesting exploration of stereotypes in films based solely on the names and a couple hints from helpful friends.

Inspired by Only Lovers Left Alive, I was also under the impression that it was a mix between Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey. What else are you supposed to do for 30 nights? Not a complete massacre of a small Alaskan town that’s for sure.

Perhaps the most complicated and ambitious of all the posters, the concept of this poster was born from the incessant amount of live-action Snow White remakes that Hollywood seems so fond of. It would not surprise me if it was just another modern take on the fairytale with the ‘dwarves’ being a rag-tag team of deadly assassins.

This is by far the closest guess I got to the real movie as I’m familiar with del Toro’s style. It also doesn’t take a genius to guess that gothic romances usually feature pale, classically beautiful, damsels in distress.
