While on lockdown, I was rewatching Avatar by James Cameron and it got me thinking about how all living things are connected. On Pandora, organisms are linked together by a vast neural network, connecting every Na’vi, animal, and plant species. The film showed how the destruction of one tree had large consequences for the rest of their world. I felt that concept of an invisible bond is a very timely and relevant metaphor, especially in the world that we live in today.
Inspired by the movie, I built a LEGO diorama based on the rainforest moon of Pandora. I really wanted to capture a range of different habitats and creatures to show how each one is part of a biological circle of life. Oh, and I also wanted it to glow in the dark too — just like in the movie!
I submitted my creation called "Avatar: The Illuminated World of Pandora" to the LEGO Ideas website, where fan-made projects that reach 10,000 votes have the chance to be produced into real LEGO sets. I’m hoping it will get enough support and gets selected for production in time for Avatar 2.
