I Asked My Mom To Play Bts K-Pop Music On A Traditional Indian Instrument, "Saraswati Veena"

My parents are both hardworking and my mother is a full-time teacher, getting up at 5 AM every day during this pandemic, but her true passion is performing music as she is a classically trained singer/instrumentalist from India.

I wanted to encourage her music because she also teaches the 'Veena', a popular stringed instrument in classical Indian Carnatic music.

I started a project using the Indian Digital Veena and asked her to play K-Pop songs to mix tradition with trending music, giving it a modern twist.

A lot of YouTubers react to global music, but I wanted to do something unique. So I asked my mom to hear the song "Black Swan" by K-Pop phenomenon, BTS, as it has a very resonant string section. It appealed to her and she played it in her own way, since music is universal and can be understood differently.
