I Am A Disabled Bisexual Woman: Normal Was Never An Option

On January 6th 2011, at the ripe old age of 14, I contracted viral meningitis. Through a series of unfortunate events even Lemony Snicket would have trouble envisioning, I developed quite severe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I went from being a dancer, drummer, and generally active teenager to a depressed, wheelchair-using young adult, struggling to become accustomed to my new way of life. Once I'd become used to the disability, I then had to come to terms with my sexuality, which although not as big an adjustment as the disability, still caused me much concern at the time.
A little over 18 months ago, I decided to document these struggles and similar anecdotes in a blog, Diary of a Disabled Person. As miserable as that sounds I prefer to emphasise the hilarious consequences of using a wheelchair, and the few positive aspects that come with being disabled (high heels are all glamour without the clamour). I aim predominantly to educated those without experience of disability about what my world is like, but I like to entertain people too. Since it's initiation my blog has been read across the globe and I will soon be accepting my 5th award for my efforts. My social media has gained thousands of followers, and continues to grow by the day.
As a long time reader of Bored Panda and as someone who has seen more and more posts relating to disability on here, I decided to introduce myself properly. Please visit my website and follow me on social media to explore my story, and see what my next (rolling) steps are.

Visiting the German Christmas Market in Leeds, and managing to not look like a zombie for the camera.
