I Altered These Humans To Be More Then Just The Sum Of Their Parts

In the 1970s I began to process and print my own work. Most of these manipulations were done in the darkroom with film and printing techniques. Many hours went into learning and experimenting with in-camera spacial relationships, multiple & long exposures, masking, and unique lighting techniques. I would spend long nights in the darkroom trying all and any printing exposures, dodging & burning, combining negs, different chemicals & papers, and image manipulation. Today it is so much easier, quicker, less expensive, and vastly superior to use digital editing on my computer (over the last two decades). But I sometimes miss the smell of the chemicals, the cast of the red light, and the miracle of seeing the image explode from the blank paper as it soaks in the soup.
