We cannot imagine a lot of recipes without fresh herbs and spices. Herbs are used in many recipes worldwide. Herbs give unmatchable aroma and flavor to the dishes. Basil
It is one of the most important herbs. It is used worldwide in many recipes. It is mainly used in south of France in making of Pictou. Various fresh herbs and spices are used with basils to enhance the flavor of salads and soups.
Mint
It is one of the most famous fresh herbs and spices used in almost entire world. It is most versatile herb. Doesn’t matter if it is sweet or savory dishes, it is used in all dishes. Spearmint is most famous kind of mint. From salads to gravy, from ice cream to soups it is used in all dishes. It is also used in sauces. Rosemary is used in roosted lambs, juices, chicken and many more dishes. It is most aromatic and pungent herb. It has lemon like taste. It goes well with olive oil, garlic etc. In Latin the word Rosemary means “dew of sea”.
Oregano
Oregano in Greek means “joy of the mountain” It got its name as it grows on the mountain of Italy and Greece. In Greek it is used as a sprinkle or garnish, whereas in Italy it is used in pizzas and tomato sauces. It tastes and smells very similar to marjoram. It is among the prominent fresh herbs and spices used in day to day life.
Thyme
Thyme is very popular in European kitchen. One simply cannot imagine a European kitchen without thyme. It comes in many varieties and species. French thyme is most famous and most used variety. It pairs with many other fresh herbs and spices too, like- rosemary, parsley, sage etc. thyme is used many dishes like pork, lamb, duck, chicken, beef etc.
Parsley
It is known to the world that no dish can be complete without using parsley. It goes with every dish you cook. Parsley looks like grass and it is used to give essence to the food. It enhances flavor of other ingredients. There are two major kind of parsley, flat leaf and curly leaf. Flat parsley is used in cooking while the other one is used in garnishing.
