Shine: Why don't Moon Fairy and Sun Prince live together? is a magical fairytale with enchanting illustrations that will touch all those parents and their children, to help them understand that they are meant to shine in spite of difficulties life has thrown in front of them. Children of divorce will know after reading it that they are unique and loved by both parents and that this joined love for them will persist with no regards of the lost love between their parents.
The idea for this book was born of a 7-year-old daughter's question when she first asked why her father and mother no longer lived together. I wanted to spare her details of our divorce and separation, whose fault it was and why. So I enwovened it in a fictional story about Sun Prince and the Moon Fairy. Using fantasy characters such as the ones in the book give my child a way of thinking and talking about the situation without making it too personal or sad.
Together with my daughter we imagined and sketched the raw drawings for the book, which were turned into magical artwork by recognized illustrator Mark Jordan. An artful masterpiece was created after 2 years of hard work! This is a Magical fairy tale of two beings with their unique lights and about love that cannot overcome obstacles but with eternal love for their star, their child.
