How Do You Grow Your Hair Out To Your Ankles?

I need advice (and I am sure this will help others too) because I want to grow my fragile and dainty hair past my ankles, if possible. I see so many with long hair, and oh so much wish of having that luxury. Maybe finally I could even actually have space buns...maybe.
