How Do You Get Your Designs To Hold Their Shape When Being Baked?

I have trouble with my cutouts loosing their shapes when baked with the pie. I would prefer to have them bake with the pie instead of trying to make them work if I bake separate and then add them....always looks like I did just that. Thank you
