“Even though I've always been drawing, I started drawing mashups about 10 years ago,” Daniel told Bored Panda. “Think my first one was an alien/lion king one, though it was not in the 'comic book front page look' yet back then. I got that idea later. But being a big fan of horror movies and cartoons ever since I was a kid, it was kinda natural to do these drawings.”
When asked about the positive reactions he gets regarding his art, Daniel said: “Oh, it's unbelievable. I'm still thinking no one will like what I draw, but apparently, some people out there have the same sense of stupid humor as me and like these drawings, and it makes my day every day. So happy! All I want to do is make people chuckle a bit when seeing them.”
We also asked the artist if he had any upcoming series, and here's what he told us, "When it comes to upcoming series, well, me and the artist Burnzig have our annual Halloween drawing prompt challenge ”Monster Mashtober” during October. It's a bit more laid back than other challenges with only 5 prompts during the whole month, so anyone can participate."
As an artist, Daniel dreams big, and hopes to accomplish many more things in the future, "I would really love to do more collaborations, I’ve done some t-shirt designs for bands, most recently for the Swedish punk legends The Pricks (check them out). Also books, would love to do more books! Been involved in drawing for 4 books so far and it's a really fun process.
I will always remember what my father-in-law said to me on his deathbed, his last words to me were 'never stop, you are very talented, you just need to believe in yourself and keep on drawing!' That was late 2018, and just a couple of months later, Netflix contacted me about drawing a cereal package for the Nordic release party for season 2 of Stranger Things.
So when things are rough, money is low and no jobs are coming in, I try to remember his words and just keep on doing fun drawings."
When it comes to hobbies, drawing is not the only thing that keep Daniel going, "Besides drawing, horror movies are of course a big thing, but also hanging out with the kids and renovating my childhood home we moved into last year!
With that being said, My goal is to be funny, there is so much bu****it in the world right now, so if one of my dumb drawings can make someone forget about it for just 1 minute and do a little smirk, then that’s awesome!"
