Edmonds, WA, USA 10/30/2018 – In many different species we see a strong bond between a mother and her child. We were reminded of that love in the story of the Mother Orca know as Tahlequah from J pod. She carried her calf for 17 days after she died shortly after birth.
"This mural was inspired by and in honor of the mother and calf orcas of J pod," said FortySixC, ”I hope when people see this mural they are inspired to help the orcas in any way they can."
FortySixC completed “A Mother’s Love,” the title of the beautiful mural, in Edmonds, WA earlier this month. The piece features two orcas, a mother, and her calf. Different patterns and shapes run throughout the mural. There is a powerful moving forward energy with a distinct Pacific Northwest feel to it.
"The majority of the artwork I do features an animal of some kind. I've always wanted to paint an orca. When the design phase of the mural started, the story of the J pod was all over the news" said FortySixC, "It was that ‘meant to be’ moment. I realized I had to paint this piece."
