We know the names of negative blood group as rare. But there is a name in the group which deserves the badge of most rarity.
This blood group named ‘Mumbai Blood Group’ or ‘HH’ blood group is found in only four out of every million people.
In the then Mumbai, YG Vira invented this blood group in 1952. As it is invented in Mumbai, it is named as ‘Mumbai Blood Group’.
But in medical sector is name is ‘HH’ blood group. During invention an antigen is found in the blood of this group which is never found in other groups. The specialty of this blood group is that they can donate blood but cannot take from others. In a static, there is ‘HH’ group blood in 0.001 % people’s body.
It is very difficult to find ‘Mumbai’ blood group than the others. Generally what kind of Antigen and antibody are there in a blood is analysis to take out the difference among various blood groups. And blood group is identified in this way. RH factor is also there.
