Has somebody ever apologized so badly you felt sorry for them?

This guy that lived down the street bullied me as a teenager and several years later he bumps into my brother and he told him that he was 'sorry that he was so mean to his sister'. I was standing right next to my brother and the only thing this guy said to me was 'bye'.
