Lockdown's relaxing, people are reacting—the first thing most do is going to a restaurant.
I’ll start with mine… I was working as a souvenir seller at a rock concert. We were right next to the food stand and I saw a worker SPIT on a burger and then wrap it ready for sale. I was totally disgusted and will never eat a burger stand burger again.

I was enjoying a fancy dinner with my husband and 4 friends when the extremely drunk guy behind us vomited all over his table. The server asked us if we would like to move. Ummm... let me think... Yes!

I didn't see this myself. A friend of mine runs a hair salon in a mini-mall. One day she went into the fast food restaurant (not a chain) in the mini-mall. The proprietress was chopping tomatoes on the floor!

Reminds me of the meal my mom and I had at a chinese restaurant in Berlin, Germany. We had frequented the place already a couple of times. This time we had little dark, colored pieces of something in our rice. We sorted them out, as good as we could, and continued eating.
I suddenly bit in one, I had overlooked! I cracked my tooth! It was a tiny stone! Then we checked the pieces we had sorted out and realized: they were all stones! We called the waiter, and told him, that we had stones in our rice. He replied: what should he do? He can not go thru all the rice bags and sort out all the stones, it would take forever. We told him, that we would not finish our meals and that he should take our plates away, please. He started yelling at us that, we had already eaten half of our food, so we had to pay the full price. It was very embarrasing, being yelled at. We paid and left.
End of story: tooth was severly damaged being cavity free beforehand, it needed a root canal treatment, and a crown later on.
But: I had called the health department the next day, and a very good health inspector promised me a personal visit to that restaurant. He was really cool on the phone. Two weeks later, the joint was closed. I called again, and he told me, that stones were not the only things they had found! Ha!

1) At a food court, saw a woman lay her baby on a table and change its soaking wet diaper (this was in the days before disposables).
2) Saw a kid stick his finger up the nozzle of the frozen-yogurt machine and lick it, and do it it again with the next nozzle.
3) Almost went into a McDonald's, but saw that the manager was standing on the serving counter - with his shoes on - to clean out the drink machine.

Oohhh - this one really bugged me. Favorite little breakfast cafe with my husband and baby. There's another family there - older Midwesternish (we're in a large West Coast city) couple and their late teens/early twenties daughter. The girl was in full Taylor Momsen2010 get-up (remember her?), real slouchy and resentful. They're sitting in silence - I'm focused on my breakfast when I hear the unmistakable sound of NAIL CLIPPING. TM Jr. is FULL ON clipping/filing her acrylics right there at breakfast with her parents. They sit inert. Surreal. I'm so pissed too because the people that work at this cafe are SO NICE. I really hate the idea of them cleaning up her disgusting mess. That's bad enough when the wonderful smell of coffee and food is penetrated by...you guessed it...nail polish! So. freaking. gross. The parents never said/did a thing!!

Live maggots in my quiche! I glanced at my food and realised the top of it was moving. Instant loss of appetite.

Wasn't in the restaurant but when I was taking classes at night I would cut through the back of the plaza at the end of the night to avoid all the stop signs. There was a chinese food restaurant that we would go for dinner and it was next to a Publix. Well while driving through one night I found the employees of the restaurant going through the grocery stores dumpster and taking all the dumped produce and meat in through the backdoor. Did not go back.

One time, a few years ago, we were at a McDonald's. My dad and mom were trying to get ice cubes from the ice maker, but it was jammed. My dad told a janitor. The janitor was sweeping, and stuck her dirty glove up the ice thing. My parents didn't get any ice after seeing what the janitor did. Several other people who didn't see what happened got ice. I have no clue why my dad didn't just tell the manager or someone else working there who had CLEAN hands or CLEAN gloves.

We were at a Mexican-style restaurant and the tortilla chip cabinet was in the dining room. I could see each server opening it, scooping chips into little baskets when they needed to grab a refill. Then I saw one of the servers sticking their hands in it, eating a handful of chips, reaching in grabbing some more and eating that handful too. Then he reached in a grabbed another handful. I saw him licking his fingers. In the dining room. I stopped eating my meal in horror.
Then, a few minutes later, I heard a party singing "Happy Birthday" in the private back room that you can rent out. It was kinda nice hearing people celebrating a birthday. Then I saw our hostess walking out of the private back room into the dining room, eating a finger-ful of cake (no plate or fork); licking the frosting off her fingers as she walked through the dining room back to the hostess station. I have never returned to this restaurant!

We hate to speak of it. In London, looking for dinner about 20 years ago. "Aberdeen Steak House", cool.
We walk in, there was trash in the aisles, stained carpet, dirty dishes... it was getting late, pubs weren't serving, so, ok, let's try it. But first, I needed the bathroom. Down the stairs. Okay. I didn't even get into the bathroom before I turned and went back up. The walls in the hallway were streaked with... brown. The carpet was wet with... smells.
We found a pizza joint instead. I still shudder when I think of that horrible place.

Mine? Oh jeez I've seen so much stuff but it must be when I went to a pizza restaurant that had moldy pepperoni, got food poisoning and never went back

One time my husband and I and our 3 year old sun decided to go out and have dinner at a steak house. As my son was 3, we decided that we should pack up some toys and such to keep him occupied while we were waiting. When we get there he takes out a can of Play-Doh and asks us to make „balls“. I oblige and begin rolling small pieces between my fingers. We‘d been doing this for a while when they seat an elderly couple across from us and they both immediately start talking to my son and saying how cute he is. So my son then walks over and hands them each a small ball of Play-Doh. The wife seems confused but the husband knew exactly what to do. And then he popped right into his mouth. Didn’t make a face or anything! Needless to say, we no longer allow our son to hand balls of Play-Doh to strangers!

Walked into the bathroom of a well known, overpriced restaurant chain & a server (who was still serving customers afterward) in a stall, door wide open, foot on the toilet, inserting a tampon...
As I closed my stall door, I heard the toilet flush & the bathroom door close.
She did not bother to wash her hands.

I worked at one of those Subways in a gas station. It was a pretty ordinary food service kind of job. That changed the day the manager decided that the gas station workers shouldn't have to clean the bathrooms, the Subway people should.
(You know, the people who handle FOOD.)
Anyway, I went in the men's room and almost died. There were MULTIPLE shit stains on the walls. It looked like what would happen if someone accidentally drank a gallon of Metamucil after eating at Taco Bell AND White Castle.

I quit that night. The manager was genuinely surprised.

One of the foods had a hair on it and i found a plastic wire ball in my brother's ice cream. We never went there again. Not like we could find it again, because it was the most generic roadside attraction diner place themed around old cartoons such as Betty Boop. The music was alright, though. (I also went to this aquarium where they replaced half of the aquarium with an arcade)

Italian Restaurant at a tourist hotspot: a waiter entering and leaving the guests restroom, the apron still on as before. Left immediatly.
Turkish takeaway at a very frequented street: the prepared dough sleeves laying unprotected, without any cover on a shelf under the table benath the floor just behind the guy at the service desk running across them all the time.
Left at once.

I have two. One was a father/daughter duo who were told there was no peameal bacon. Ate half their large order, then complained about having to have regular bacon (which they agreed to), before they dashed out the door.
The second was an older couple. You could tell they were up to no good. First they started complaining about my friend and her daughter (an infant). We were talking about breastfeeding in public, with a blanket. That didn't work so we watched them start scheming. The one started to stuff his mouth quickly, and she just cut hers once and then left it. The server came over and nothing was said until he was done. They berated the server and demanded for their meal free because hers was so horrible. We filled the server in on what was going on, as we'd heard them after the first time the server went by.
