Sometimes strangers can be kind... or not. I’d love to hear your stories about things random people have told you that stuck with you or even changed your life. Feel free to share them here!

I was volunteering in a hospital for children with cancer. I was also going through a very difficult period (breakup, issues with my a*****e family).

One day, I was chatting to one of the mothers who had her child hospitalized there. I complained that I seemed unable "to find love".
She looked at me with her deep blue eyes and told me: "You are one of the kindest and caring people I've met. You've done so much for us, and the kids lighten up when they see you. You say you are looking for love - but, my darling, you ARE love"

Never thought of that perspective before...

1) People judge others by themselves.
2)If you always do what you've always done, then you'll always get what you always got.

Why he was homeless and chose to be. Upstate NY. I'd keep some change in my pocket to to give him walking to and from work. One day, when I hadn't seen him in a while, I put $5 in my pocket just in case I did. Instinct. We sat and talked, and I was late to work. He was an interesting fellow. Just preferred to be on his own without and an abode. I was a suit wearing female working in the NY legislature at the time. I'm still female, just not working legislature. LOL. And, I got rid of my suit collection.

This older woman came into the vet clinic with her granddaughters I assume. Looking at me she said "She looks like a nice girl." I looked up and she smiled at me. I thought that was so sweet. I was also joking around with my co-workers one day and said "We're all going straight to hell aren't we?" A Dr. that we worked with said "If Ms.Gb is going to hell we're all doomed." I always remember that and it was nice to know that she thought so highly of me so I'll never forget that.

When I was 13 years old, I heard Eleanor Roosevelt speak. I was the only child in. an audience of adults, She was mesmerizing and deeply inspiring. I will never forget one thing she said: "If you have a decision to make, ;isten to your heart. Your deliberations may lead you astray, but if you let your heart decide, you ill never make a mistake." Many years later, I realized that a simplified version of what she was saying is to just to trust your "guts." This turned out to be especially important for me as a young oman in the 60s.

I was at the shop with my mom once, and she told me at the checkout to get these fruit strings she forgot but they were on a high shelf and I was short, but then an old man came over and got them for me, and he said “ There you go, I don’t like seeing you suffer

My favorite saying is one I heard many years ago. When you are trying and trying to make something work, just remember "All you can do is all you can do". It has helped my level of frustration many, many times and let me accept what I can and can't do.
