When my kids were toddlers, I drank Diet Coke like a fiend. My husband drank coffee. The kids would always beg for my Diet Coke, but there was no way I was giving them any. (Not exactly a healthy toddler treat!) So, I started pouring it into a coffee mug, and when they would reach for it, I would say “hot!” and do the hand sign for hot. They assumed it was coffee and wanted nothing to do with it. It worked for YEARS! Drank my caffeinated beverage in peace.
