For me, it's Star Trek. I"ve watched The Original Series, The Next Generation, most of The Animated Series, and a few episodes of Deep Space Nine. That show never fails to cheer me up or at least help me forget about about a bad day.

I don't like to watch movies or cartoons when I'm sad, because I can't really concentrate on them, I dissociate really quickly and slip back into my thoughts. So I guess my answer is that I don't like to watch anything when I'm sad.

basically anything from childhood. the mary tyler moore show, gilligan's island, the brady bunch, 60's batman (especially 60's batman), the munsters. my favorite is the andy griffith show..it's a little before my time, but it's so sweet and gentle and soothing, it's always nice when i feel sad.

Books are my solution. Quit watching TV years ago, with exceptions of old Loony Tunes and Merrie Melodies with the kids. Hidden puns and jokes in those are delightful.

Friends or Sex and the City. Plus junk food, obviously.

When I’m having a really bad day/week/month I cannot watch anything because it’s too hard to concentrate.
When just sad/down it used to be Third Rock From the Sun, Miranda, Porridge. Currently, it’s QI and Red Dwarf.

I know this is going to sound weird, but my comfort show is Law and Order: SVU 😅
When I was younger we didn't have cable, and late at night it was pretty much the only decent show airing (apart from foreign soap operas and infomercials). So, now i link watching Law and Order with a cozy late night at home, when the worst thing I had to worry for was homework, and that made me feel better.

Moonstruck - the emotional familia fighting & loving in equal parts never fails when I’m lonely for those days in my own family. Little Lord Fontleroy to restore my faith in innocent truth from children. Howl’s Moving Castle just to transport myself to a place where magic is real & love conquers hate.

"The Party" Filmed in the hippy days of 1968. Peter Sellers, Blake Edwards, and Henri Mancini from the "Pink Panther" series. No matter how down I get it still makes me laugh out loud. It has a great cast also- Claudine Longet, Gavin Macleod, Carol Wayne (from the Johnny Carson Show), and Steve Franken as the most adorable drunk. Try it out; I can pretty much guarantee that your blues will be put on hold. :)

May sound silly but what works best for me is good old cartoons like tom and jerry with some cereal and milk

Fried Green Tomatoes, Anne of Green Gables, Secondhand Lions, Wild Hogs. Not necessarily in that order. Anything that will make me laugh. Stupid commercials do it for me too, to bad I can't pop a dvd of them in the player.
