My daughter cut her hair when she was 7. She claimed, “ the scissors came alive and chopped off my hair!” She definitely regretted her choice of cutting her hair, and now she probably realizes how stupid that lie was.

'I didn't do it, [my brother] must have' my sister still claims after 11 years, despite it was her name carved into the top edge of my gold edged book I got for my 21st birthday. It certainly looked more like a 12 year old's writing than a 19 year olds, despite them having similar handwriting.
