I was in a Chinese restaurant waiting for takeout. The women next to me was talking to me, she was a bit off but I was polite. The staff was speaking to each other, in Chinese. The women was in awe and asked me "how can they understand each other when they're speaking Chinese?" She was dead serious 🤦
